Christopher Pitlik, Director Jazz Band is an extra curricular ensemble that meets 2 time per week for an hour and a half. The Shepard Jazz Band performs at many school and community functions. Hickory Creek Middle School Jazz Ensemble Alyson Bauman, Director The Hickory Creek Jazz Ensemble is an audition based ensemble comprising of sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students. The Jazz Ensemble performs at a variety of school events and festivals each year. Hille Middle School Jazz Band Rose Cloud, Director The Hille Jazz Band is made up of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders with at least one year of playing experience Homewood Flossmoor High School Red Jazz Band Andy Hoefle, Director Homewood Flossmoor High School White Jazz Band Andy Hoefle, Director Homewood Flossmoor Viking Jazz Ensemble Sarah Whitlock, Director James Hart Gold Jazz Band Matt Johnson, Director The jazz program at James Hart currently boasts 50 students in grades 6-8 and, beginning in 2017 was split into two bands in response to increased participation. The Gold Jazz Band represents the program’s more advanced ensemble, with 7th and 8th grade students comprising this year’s membership. The Gold Jazz Band rehearses before school three days a week and in addition to performing at several band concerts each year, often plays at a number of community functions around the Homewood-Flossmoor area. This group has performed at both Hackney’s in Palos and the Quarry Pub and Grill in Lemont as the opening group for the Brass Tracks Jazz Orchestra. It has also performed several times at Music in the Parks, the Prairie State and South Suburban College Jazz Festivals, and the Mundelein Invitational, and is excited to be making its first appearance this year at the LWC Jazz Festival. Joliet West Jazz Ensemble Eric Wellman, Director The Joliet West Jazz Ensemble is a volunteer group that performs yearly at various festivals and events in the Chicagoland area. Future performances after the Lincoln-Way Central Festival include Heroes West in Joliet, the Quarry in Lemont, the Jazz Showcase in Chicago, and other Joliet community events. Liberty Junior High School Jazz Ensemble Jen Clark, Director The Liberty Junior High Jazz Ensemble consists of 7th and 8th graders from New Lenox. They rehearse two days a week before school and perform regularly throughout the community. Lincoln - Way East Jazz Ensemble Rob Denty, Director The Lincoln-Way East Jazz Ensemble is the top big band of the program's three jazz bands. The band is a club comprised of students who volunteer to accept a rigorous schedule to play the most advanced music with swing, beauty, and expressiveness. Lincoln-Way East Jazz Orchestra Taylor Beekman, Director The Lincoln-Way East High School jazz program consists of three large jazz ensembles and one jazz combo. All groups are extracurricular and ensemble placement is determined by audition. The groups perform regularly at various community events, concerts and festivals throughout the midwest. Lockport High School Jazz Ensemble Aaron Kennedy, Director Martino Junior High Jazz Band Kyle Rinke, Director The Martino Junior High Jazz Band meets twice a week before school. Many students are playing secondary instruments. The jazz band performs multiple times a year and are great ambassadors for music and Martino Junior High. Minooka Community High School Jazz Ensemble Gina Wych, Director Jazz Ensemble is the top jazz band at Minooka Community High School, accepting students by audition. In December, the Jazz Ensemble performed at Joliet Junior College, opening for the JJC Jazz Band. Mokena Junior High Jazz Band Taylor Beekman, Director The Mokena Junior High Jazz Band is excited to be back at the LWC Jazz Festival this year! The Jazz Band is comprised of 6-8th grade students that perform on three concerts during the school year. Oak Prairie Junior High School Jazz Band Bill Rank, Director The OP Jazz Band participates in many festivals throughout the year, including the Naperville Big Band Festival, Evanston Jazz Festival, the Prairie State Jazz Festival and the Lockport Area Jazz Festival. In addition to Festivals, the Jazz Band has performed with the Brass Tracks Jazz Orchestra and the Pete Ellman Big Band. Old Quarry Jazz Band Frank Alongi, Director The OQMS Jazz Band would like to thank the LWC students, staff, volunteers, faculty and administration for hosting this wonderful event. OLHMS Jazz Ensemble John Kehl, Director The OLHMS Jazz Ensemble meets one day a week after school and is made up of 7th and 8th grade students. The mission of the OLHMS Jazz Program is to enrich OLHMS Band students' musical experience through exposure to classic and modern jazz music. Pontiac Township High School Jazz Ensemble Mike Roberts, Director The Pontiac Township High School Jazz Ensemble is proud to make a return to a festival in 2020! The ensemble rehearses twice a week despite musicians being involved with numerous sports and other activities. Summit Hill JHS Friday Jazz Ensemble Kim Coughlin, Director Summit Hill Junior High is fortunate to have enough students interested in jazz to have two separate jazz ensembles. The Friday Jazz Ensemble meets every Friday to rehearse their pieces, which span a variety of styles of jazz. Most of our rehearsals are after school for an hour, and on the half-day institute days our district schedules almost once a month, they rehearse before school at 7:00 am for 40 minutes. The group is looking forward to performing in this year's LWC festival! Summit Hill JHS Tuesday Jazz Ensemble Kim Coughlin, Director The Summit Hill Junior high School Tuesday Jazz Ensemble is excited to participate in the LWC festival again this year! The group is composed of seventh and eighth graders and they rehearse once a week after school for an hour to hone their skills. Our goal is to play a variety of musical styles and to enjoy making music together. |
